Diwali was celebrated in Kinderland in the month of October 2022. The festive mood was felt throughout October as we celebrated the “festival of light” full of vigour and zest.

Children were educated on the origins of the festival and how Hindus all over the globe and Malaysia celebrate Diwali.

Both teachers and children had fun celebrating Diwali with lots of cultural activities. Children had first-hand experiences in sensory activities namely, the art of ‘Murukku” making, a savoury, crunchy snack from the Indian subcontinent. This popular snack among Malaysian is made with rice flour and lentil flour.

The children also got to try their hands at Kolam making, also known as “Rangoli”, by using coloured rice flour to decorate our school. Not left behind were the younger children, who were treated to Henna Arts and lots of Indian traditional foods. They indulged in baked traditional sweets, snacks, delectable savouries, arts & crafts, and much more.

Each child went home with a small gift packet of murukku to share with their families. Happy children greeted their parents during pick-up. They shared their day’s experience and eagerly showed off their Henna Art and “Murukku”.

It was such a joy to experience the Diwali celebration together in 2022. Our children will carry the memories they made and the traditions they learned throughout their lives.

Cheers to our Kinderland children. May the divine lights of Diwali fill all of our life with prosperity, peace, and good health.
