The community of Kinderland Preschool @ Setia Impian get together for a splendid Chinese New Year celebration.
Across Kinderland centres in Malaysia, children, teachers, and families recently gathered to celebrate the joyous occasion of Chinese New Year as we welcomed the Year of the Horse. This year’s celebration carried an extra layer of meaning, as the holy month of Ramadan began just two days after the festivities began.
In a multicultural country like Malaysia, festive celebrations are often shared across communities. Children grow up experiencing the traditions, values, and cultures of friends and neighbours from different backgrounds. While Ramadan is a sacred time for Muslims to focus on reflection, compassion, and good deeds, the spirit of togetherness that defines Malaysian celebrations continues to shine through.

Some centres like Kinderland Preschool @ Maisson Ara Damansara and Kinderland Preschool @ Denai Alam prepared door gifts which include traditional Chinese snacks for Muslim families to enjoy after breaking fast. A simple yet thoughtful gesture that embraces both traditions respectfully.
Malaysia is well known for its vibrant food culture, and festive gatherings are usually filled with delicious treats and shared meals. However, this year many Kinderland centres thoughtfully adjusted their celebrations out of respect for Muslim parents, teachers, and even some children who had begun fasting. Instead of focusing the celebration around food, our centres placed greater emphasis on meaningful activities which allowed everyone to participate comfortably.

Some of the activities organized by the school included a Bian Lian (face-changing) performance at Kinderland Preschool @ Ipoh and fan favourite, Lion Dance performance with Caishen (God of Prosperity) at Kinderland Preschool @ PJ Section 14.
Children and families enjoyed a variety of cultural experiences throughout the celebrations. Some centres hosted lively lion dance performances that filled the school with excitement and festive energy. Others introduced children to traditional Chinese calligraphy through writing and stamping activities, allowing them to explore the beauty of Chinese characters. In one centre, families were even treated to the fascinating art of Bian Lian, a traditional face-changing performance that delighted audiences of all ages.

Usual festive activities filled the centres much to the delight of the children experiencing Chinese New Year celebrations with their friends. At Kinderland Preschool @ USJ and Kinderland Preschool @ Kota Kemuning, both centres focused on the activity of Yee Sang in their own unique ways!
Despite the thoughtful adjustments, the joyful spirit of Chinese New Year was felt strongly across every centre. Children arrived in festive attire, laughter echoed through classrooms, and families came together to celebrate culture, learning, and community.

The principal at Kinderland Preschool @ Seremban 2, giving out angpows and mandarin oranges to her Kinderland children symbolizing passing on blessings, good fortune and prosperity. This exact moment teaches our Kinderland children to respect their elders and continue the traditions and how we embrace each other’s culture.
At Kinderland, these moments reflect an important value we hope to nurture in every child — an appreciation and respect for the diverse cultures that make Malaysia so special. By celebrating together while being mindful of one another, children learn that kindness, understanding, and harmony are at the heart of a truly caring community.
