Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is one of the most celebrated festivals among the Chinese community in Malaysia. It is also celebrated by 56 ethnic groups in the world. It is a time for families to come together for a reunion dinner a day before the lunar new year.

Kinderland took this opportunity to let our children learn about some of the cultural activities related to the Lunar New Year.

Kinderland Preschool @ USJ 11 and Kinderland Playhouse PJ @ Seksyen 14 celebrated Lunar New Year with Lion Dance at the centres. Parents were invited to join us in the celebration.

A Lion Dance is a traditional Chinese martial performance that involves dancers in lion costumes mimicking the movement of a lion performing to a vigorous drum beat. The lion dance troupe brought a lot of excitement and laughter to the audience with their antics. To make the event more meaningful and educational, traditional food such as the “Nian Gao” (a sweet dessert made from glutinous rice flour) was severed during the tea break. Other activities like lantern making and Lunar New Year decoration was carried out for the children.

The celebration was a wonderful opportunity for children to experience some of the rich Chinese cultures.

Kinderland is dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that includes cultural awareness and understanding. The event was a huge success and everyone is already looking forward to next year’s celebration. Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Lunar New Year!
