Echoes of “Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!” filled Kinderland Preschool @ Ipoh as children and educators joyfully marked both National Day and Malaysia Day — a heartwarming reflection of unity and pride in being Malaysian.
Malaysia’s National Day, known as Hari Merdeka, and Hari Malaysia are two meaningful occasions that remind us of our nation’s journey — from gaining independence to coming together as a united federation. For preschoolers, these moments offer a chance to begin understanding what it means to love their country and appreciate the unity that binds all Malaysians.
At Kinderland, we believe patriotism begins with awareness — knowing where we come from, respecting others, and cherishing the diversity that makes Malaysia special. Teaching patriotism is more than just waving the Jalur Gemilang or singing the national anthem; it is about helping children develop a sense of pride, belonging, and gratitude for their home.

Kinderland Preschool @ Maisson Ara Damansara and Kinderland Preschool @ Sunway SPK learned more about their country during the celebration and showed their patriotic spirit. These might be small hands but raised high in love for the nation they call home.
While Hari Merdeka celebrates our freedom and the courage of those who built our nation, Hari Malaysia highlights our unity — the coming together of different states and cultures to form one nation. Introducing both occasions in preschool helps children understand that patriotism goes beyond history. It is about celebrating togetherness, harmony, and respect for all.

The children of Kinderland Preschool @ Denai Alam and Kinderland Preschool @ Setia Impian proudly wore traditional Malaysian attire — from Hanfu and Lengha to Baju Melayu and Kadazan outfits — beautifully showcasing the cultural diversity that unites us.
At Kinderland, we incorporate these values through hands-on learning and celebrations. Children engage in creative art activities, cultural performances, and storytelling that bring Malaysia’s heritage to life. They learn that every festival and flag, every language and tradition, is a thread in the larger fabric of Malaysia.

Every Kinderland centre celebrated Merdeka in their own creative yet joyful learning way — Kinderland Preschool @ USJ opted a calming art session of painting the traditional wau. Whilst Kinderland Preschool @ Kota Bharu decided to go on a more patriotic route by doing hand-print style of the Jalur Gemilang. Kinderland Preschool @ PJ Section 14 took a “wild” turn for their Merdeka Ride where children proudly decorated their scooters and bicycles.
Across all our centres, national celebrations are filled with colour, music, and joy. Whether it is Hari Merdeka, Hari Malaysia, or cultural festivities like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali, our children come together to celebrate with equal enthusiasm. These experiences help them see the beauty in diversity and the importance of unity — lessons that stay with them long after the celebrations end.

At Kinderland Preschool @ Damai Perdana (left pic), children explored various Malaysian cuisines prepared by parents and teachers. Whereas at Kinderland Preschool @ Mutiara Damansara (right pic) organized lively “food stalls,” like this chapati stand where the children prepare simple local dishes together. Both activities is a true testament of Malaysia’s love and appreciation for food.

The spirit of Merdeka filled the air at Kinderland Preschool @ Kota Kemuning, where children and teachers marched in a cheerful parade, singing patriotic songs and celebrating with pride and excitement.
By nurturing these values early on, Kinderland hopes to raise young Malaysians who are proud of their heritage, kind to others, and ready to contribute to a harmonious nation. Patriotism begins in the simplest moments — a song sung together, a flag painted with small hands, or a story about unity shared in class — and it grows into a lifelong love for their homeland
